Mrs. BARBARA ANN WIEGERS HARRIS

Fort Worth -- Barbara Ann Wiegers Harris passed away March 20, 2021 at the age of 92. Barbara was born January 12, 1929 in Higginsville, Missouri. She graduated from Central Missouri State University where she was a member and vice president of the Pi Kappa Sigma sorority. She also attended Texas Christian University for further education in nutrition. In the mid-70s, Barbara began her own business, Southwest Dietetic Consultants, which provided dietary consulting services to nursing homes primarily in North Texas, for nearly 45 years. Mom’s smile resonated with everyone she met. She wasn’t just “our” mom; she was a 2nd mom to so many of our dear high school friends. Mom would often get visits after the four of us moved out of our Westhaven Drive home - friends would see the kitchen light on and would know it was OK to stop and chat with her about anything. She cherished those times and talked about them often. Mom was there for every special event - band competitions, birthday celebrations, Holidays, Homecoming, Prom preps and swim parties - she even helped two litters of puppies come into the world. She truly made every moment special! Even though her last few years were difficult, suffering a severe stroke in 2015, Barbara still loved greetings cards and visits from family and friends. Although unable to speak, her smile would light up the room, as she listened to all the great memories and current happenings. Barbara is survived by her son Rick and wife Karen of Spring, TX; daughters Jane and husband Tim Usher of Overland Park, KS; Suzi and husband Andy Webber of Livermore, CA; and Pam and husband Steve Hackett of Dallas, TX, along with six grandchildren: Russell and wife Amy Harris; Matthew and wife Caitlyn Harris; Madison Usher; Kayla and Drew Webber and Shannon Hackett; and one great-granddaughter, Mary Harper Harris. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Calvert Harris, parents, George William and Mattie Loletta Wiegers, brothers George Jr., Robert (Bud) and Allen Wiegers and great-granddaughter, Sloane Margaret Harris. A service celebrating Barbara’s life will be held on Saturday, April 17 at 2 p.m. at Arborlawn United Methodist Church in Southwest Fort Worth. A private interment will be held at a later date at the DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, where she will join her husband, our dad, Richard (Dick) Harris.
