Mr. CHARLES ALLEN BRINK Jr.

FORT WORTH -- Charles "Charlie" Brink Jr., a poet, a painter, an engineer, a philosopher, a veteran of World War II and a wonderful father, left this world to begin his next adventure Friday afternoon, Aug. 26, 2016. He was 93 years old. Service: 6 p.m. Friday, a celebration of his life will begin in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper. Visitation: 5 p.m. until service Friday, family and friends will gather at the funeral home. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the American Merchant Marine Veterans Memorial, P.O. Box 1659, Wilmington, CA 90748-1659 or to Community Hospice of Texas, 6100 Western Place, Suite 105, Fort Worth, Texas 76107. Charlie, or "C.A." as his mom and Indiana family called him, was the son of Dr. Charles Allen Brink Sr. and Clara Weber Brink. He was born Feb. 6, 1923, in Kirksville, Mo., where his father was teaching at the American School of Osteopathy. When Charlie was about five years old, the family moved to Princeton, Ind., where Dr. Brink opened his osteopathic practice. They made Princeton their home, and there Charlie and his brother Bruce were raised. Before the United States entered World War II, Charlie wanted to join the Royal Canadian Air Force. His father convinced him to attend the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kingsport, N.Y. He left the academy after one year to become an active Merchant Marine serving until the end of the war. Charlie then attended the University of Texas, studying engineering. On a visit to Fort Worth, he met his partner in life, his true love and his equal in all things, Betty Lee Bauer. They married July 15, 1955, and had a wonderful and adventurous life together until her death Dec. 10, 2012. Survivors: Charlie is survived by his five children, Priscilla Reznikoff, Deborah Maguire and her husband, John, Charles Allen Brink III and his wife, Angela, Rebecca Yarbrough and her husband, Thomas, and Sarah Rogers and her husband, Edward; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; brother Dr. Bruce Brink Sr.; sister-in-law, Suzanne Bauer Mabe; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families. We will miss him terribly but hope he has found, in his new adventure, all the answers to life's amazing questions.
