FORT WORTH – Della Mae Morgan Sandifer passed away peacefully Monday morning, June 18, 2018. She was 96. SERVICE: 11 a.m. Thursday in the chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper with Dr. Carroll Marr officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband, Perry, in the Everman Cemetery. Family and friends will gather from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday in the Great Room at the funeral home. Born February 19, 1922 in Mullin, Della was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Hazel Gladys Jones Morgan. She married Perry Alton Sandifer in the Prayer Chapel at Texas Wesleyan College in 1940 and were the loving parents of three daughters and one step son. Della was an artist, musician, and long-time educator with Fort Worth Independent School District. She completed her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and Art from Texas Wesleyan College and a master’s in Guidance and Counseling from Texas Christian University. Della worked as a teacher at Carter Park Elementary school and also served in the reading clinic. She was a counselor and Parent Coordinator of the Follow Through program. She earned many honors including Fort Worth Teacher of the Year in 1982. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout leader for many years. Della trusted her Lord Jesus at the age of nine years. She taught Sunday School classes and Vacation Bible School in the nursery and children’s division at Polytechnic Baptist Church for a decade. She has been a member of Southcliff Baptist Church for many years. She sang “Jesus Loves Me” to all her children and grandchildren as a lullaby. Della, while actively involved in many facets, was best known to her friends and family as a peacemaker and servant of the Lord. She was a help-mate to her husband, Perry, and her home was always open to friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 68 years, Perry, step-son, Harry Sandifer and son-in-law, Stan Borum. SURVIVORS: In addition to her children, Darla and Frank Shannon, Pat Borum and Teri and Jerry Robles, Della had 40 grandchildren and several generations of their families.
