Arthur Bryan Freeze, a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, Texas, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025, at the age of 79. He was preceded in death by his father, Frazer Jackson "Frosty" Freeze, and his mother, Mary Ann Griffin Freeze.
Born on June 19, 1946, Bryan's life was defined by creativity, curiosity, and an unwavering devotion to his craft. After graduating from Texas Wesleyan University in 1973, Bryan proudly served as a Green Beret in the United States Army Special Forces. His early professional pursuits included work as a catering director, restaurateur, oilman, and sound technician. Eventually, he followed his true calling-music.
A gifted musician, songwriter, and performer, Bryan dedicated much of his life to the art of making music. Together with his musical partner, performing as Dr. Wu', they wrote and produced more than 200 songs and 21 albums. From the early days in bands at Paschal High School, until weeks before his passing, Bryan collaborated with over 100 musicians throughout his lifetime. His work reflected both his technical mastery and his deep passion for storytelling through playing multiple instruments, recording and sound engineering-qualities that inspired and delighted all who had the privilege of hearing his music. For the past 17 years, Bryan served faithfully as the sound engineer at Peace Lutheran Church, where he loved using his talents to serve God and His people.
Bryan was a man of many qualities beyond music-known for his sense of humor, genuine kindness, and love of family and friends. He lovingly raised three sons and was especially proud of his grandson, Max, and most recently, his newborn grandson, Brooks. He approached life with thoughtfulness and quiet joy, finding meaning in simple pleasures. It has been said that he was always the kindest man in the room.
He is survived by his son, Trey Freeze, and Trey's partner, Carrie Stevenson; grandsons, Max and Brooks Freeze; stepsons, Chad Newman and Kyle Newman, and Kyle's wife, Melissa Newman; step-grandchildren, Charlie and Mollie Newman; his brother, Jack Freeze, and his wife, Pam Freeze; and their daughter, Liz Jamae.
Bryan was a beautiful soul-a talented musician, loyal friend, and man of faith whose warmth and wit enriched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy will continue to live on through his music and the many lives he touched with his generosity of spirit.
A service celebrating Bryan's life will be held on Friday, November 7, at 2:30 p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 941 W. Bedford Euless Rd., Hurst, TX 76053, with a celebration of life to follow that evening in Fort Worth.
