Mrs. BETTYE JANE ZEVE SCHOENFELD BACCUS

Bettye Jane Zeve Schoenfeld Baccus passed away peacefully Thursday morning, April 13, 2017. Mrs. Baccus was 92. Service: 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park, with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. Following committal prayers, she will be laid to rest between her husbands. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Fort Worth Food Bank or a charity of choice, in her memory, is suggested. Born in Houston on September 22, 1924, Bettye was the daughter of Leo W. and Sara R. Carb Zeve. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Carl J. Schoenfeld and J.D. "Buddy" Baccus; and her sister, Charlotte Davis. Bettye spent many years at Buddy’s side during his lifelong involvement with the Scottish Rite of Texas. She loved cruising and traveling the world over. Bettye loved to watch her Houston Texans and Astros, the Texas Rangers, and the Dallas Cowboys! She was a member of Beth-El Congregation and active in its Sisterhood and a past president of National Council of Jewish Women in Ft. Worth. A great debt of gratitude is owed to her cousin, Marcy Phillips, for her limitless devotion to Bettye. A special thanks to Maria Morales for her care of Bettye during the past year. She is survived by her nephews, Joel Davis and his wife, Abby, David DeVido and his wife, Rose Marie, and Stephen Davis and wife, Jessica; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and their families; and her step-children, Mike Baccus and Lorna Rodriguez of Houston and Pandora Blankenship of Neosho, Mo.
