CAROLYN HART

HOUSTON -- Carolyn Neighbors Hart died peacefully Monday afternoon, July 2, 2012, during her 78th year. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the favorite animal shelter of one's choice or planting a pine tree, in Carolyn's memory, is suggested. Born in Fort Worth on Sept. 9, 1933, Carolyn was the daughter of Dr. DeWitt and Marjorie Stone Neighbors. After graduating from R.L. Paschal High School, she attended Sweet Briar College and the University of Texas at Austin. Following the death of her husband, James Lamar Hart, she moved in 1967 to Houston, where she raised her eight children. Carolyn loved her dogs and often delighted her family and friends with tales of her dogs' adventures. She loved her home among the pines and spent much of her time caring for them. She was prominent in supporting the Spring Branch Memorial Sports Association when her children were growing up. Always bright and curious, Carolyn, an avid reader of mystery books, lived a long, free-spirited life. She was preceded in death by her husband and parents. The Hart family would like to express our gratitude and appreciation to the doctors and nurses who have helped care for our mother these last few years. We would also like to thank the caregivers at Synergy for their patience and help in caring for our mother this past year. Survivors: In addition to her children and their spouses, Brian Hart, Lucy Cochrane and Bubba, Emily Swartz, Ben Hart and Lata, Matt Hart, Jessica Hart, Carrie Konarik and Steve, and Anne Bergen and Lee (Lee), Carolyn is survived by her grandchildren, Samantha, Max, Amy and Brandon Swartz, Chris and Kimberly Cochrane, Elle, Tony, Arianna and Oscar Farias, and Carolyn and Kenny Bergen; sister, Nancy Neighbors Becker; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins and their families.
