Willow Park, Texas - Charles Weldon “Chuck” Huddleston passed away at home surrounded by family and loved ones Tuesday morning, October 3.
Born on September 10, 1945 in Marshall, TX Chuck was the son of Eugene Weldon and Leona Guidry Huddleston. After spending much of his childhood as an “army brat”, he joined the U. S. Army himself at the age of 17. It was during his army service that Chuck met the love of his life, Linda Gafford, and together they started a family. After 13 moves and 21 years of service, he retired from the U. S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 3 and moved to Fort Worth to be closer to friends and relatives.
Chuck had many hobbies and interests to include, riding motorcycles, going on cruises and vacations, drinking a nice glass of Crown Royal, smoking fine cigars, shooting pistols and rifles, reloading ammunition and socializing with good friends. An active member in multiple units of the Moslah Shrine, he very much enjoyed supporting Shriners Hospital for Children through his participation in the circus or standing on Fort Worth street corners to raise money.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter, and his sister, Elaine.
In addition to his wife, Linda, Chuck is survived by sons, Wayne and his wife, Jessie, and Brian; his grandson, Wyatt; his sister, Jean; nieces and nephews, Dede, Suzanne, Mike, Chuck and Sammy and their families; and many friends.
Family and friends will gather from 11am to 12 pm Monday, October 9, in the Chapel at Robertson Mueller Harper with a Celebration of His Life to begin at 12 pm. The service will be followed at 2 pm with Military Honors being given at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Shriner’s Hospitals for Children, in his memory, is suggested.
