FORT WORTH -- Charlotte Elaine Bogard, 78, a loving mother and grandmother, died peacefully Thursday morning, November 26, 2020. Service: Following a private committal service, Charlotte will be placed in Oakwood Cemetery, next to her husband, Ward. Visitation: Her family will be hosting a virtual celebration of life to share stories on Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 10:30 to noon CST. Charlotte Elaine Bogard was born April 25, 1942 in Grand Island, Nebraska to Glover Charles and Frances Haack Ensley. Following the war, the family moved to Kansas City, Missouri where she grew up. Charlotte graduated from the University of Kansas in 1964 with a degree in Jewelry & Silvermaking. She was a member of Alpha Phi sorority and remained a proud Jayhawk and KU supporter all of her life. In 1972, she moved to Fort Worth, Texas and married R. Ward Bogard, Jr. Their only child, Travis Bogard, was born there in 1977. Charlotte enjoyed a long career in banking and technology working for Fort Worth National Bank and eventually retiring from Chase Bank’s Trust department. After retirement, she kept busy managing the books for family and friends’ restaurants and bars including The Horseman, Coconuts, and Ol’ South Pancake House. Charlotte was a regular volunteer for The Warm Place for over 20 years. It held a special place in her heart having provided support for her and Travis during their unspeakable loss after her husband’s passing in 1992. Charlotte was also an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church for more than 48 years. As many can attest, Charlotte had a busy social calendar. She was always up for dinner and drinks and catching up with various friends. Her greatest achievement, however, was raising her son Travis. She lit up every time she talked about him, and she was thrilled when he expanded the family to include his wife Jenny, and eventually two granddaughters. They were all the light of her life. Charlotte was preceded in death by her husband, R. Ward Bogard, Jr. Survivors include: Son, Travis Bogard, his wife, Jenny, and two granddaughters, Tallula and Sienna, all of San Francisco, California; Brother, Richard Ensley; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Memorials: Those desiring to do so may make memorial contributions in Charlotte’s name to The Warm Place in Fort Worth, Texas.
