Tulsa, Oklahoma - Dianna Kay Charles McDonnell passed away Wednesday, October 22, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was two weeks from her 91st birthday.
Family and friends will gather from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday, October 29, at Harper & Lucas, formerly Robertson Mueller Harper. A Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be said at 10:30 am Thursday, October 30, at Andrew's Catholic Church, 3312 Dryden Road, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Laurel Land Memorial Park.
Born in San Antonio, Texas on November 4, 1934, Dianna was the daughter of the late Max Charles and Hortencia Monreal Lugo Charles. She attended parochial schools in San Antonio and took classes at Incarnate Word College before moving to Fort Worth with her parents in the late 1950s.
Dianna met the love of her life, John Edward McDonnell, at a Catholic singles group. They married in 1963 and raised three children. John died in 2013, just over a month after their 50th wedding anniversary. A longtime Fort Worth resident, Dianna moved to an assisted living center in Tulsa in 2023 to be closer to her daughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and sister, Marilyn Charles.
Dianna is survived by her children, Rafael McDonnell and his partner, Shannon Elliott, Leticia Dawn “Letty” Hill and her husband, Andrew Hill, and Andres Estevan “Andy” McDonnell; grandchildren, Annabelle, Emily, Sara, and Josh; grandson-in-law, Martin; great-grandson, Levi; sister-in-law, Kitty Smith; and a host of friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in her memory.
