Burleson – Donald (Don) Barton passed away peacefully on Monday morning, April 27.

Don was born in Austin IN on December 6, 1930, and grew up in Scottsburg IN. After completing high school, he joined the Air Force and served in the Korean War. After leaving the Air Force, he worked for 35 years at ADT where he became Branch Manager of the Fort Worth Office, and received the Manager of the Year Award. He was responsible for the automation of telephone communications as technology expanded. After he retired from ADT, he became a licensed HVAC technician and spent time on the family farm raising cows, growing a garden, taking care of the horses and donkeys and helping family and friends.
While stationed at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, he met the love of his life, they were married for 66 years. Don and Nancy loved to share their home and farm with family and friends. Don was the essence of a “salt of the earth” person – hardworking, caring, generous, unassuming, quiet, reliable, and devoted to serving others. His true work was in the countless unseen acts of kindness he provided to neighbors, friends and strangers alike Through his actions, he mentored many by listening and providing guidance. He enjoyed a good margarita and playing the lottery.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Nancy; brothers, Bob Barton and Leo Barton; and sisters, Muggs Lanhom and Emma Gene Becht.
Don is survived by his daughter, Donnell Barton; sister Norma Davisson; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the National Brussels Griffon Rescue, nationalbrusselsgriffonrescue.org or North Texas Humane Society.
