Floy passed away on Saturday, August 30, 2025. She was a loving wife, mother, and daughter. She was born March 14, 1929, in Tahoka, TX. She was a graduate of Slaton High School and attended her high school reunions into her nineties with her childhood friend Rosie Adams. Floy also attended Wayland Baptist University in Plainview, Texas.

Floy was preceded in death by her father Charlie T. Hill, mother Willie May (Faulkinberry) Hill, and husband of 68 years Wm. Bryant Flores.

Survivors include children, Hillary and Mark Stipp, William and Donna Flores, Joslyn and Greg Shirey, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Upon graduating from high school Floy attended Jessie Lee’s School of Cosmetology in Lubbock. After completing her training, she became a licensed beautician and was hired by Maureen Anstead to work at her beauty shop in Ralls, Texas. Through her association with Maureen, Floy met a handsome Naval Aviator, Bryant, whom she married on August 28, 1949. Floy’s Cosmetology career flourished and continued most of her life. Through it she made many lifelong friends.

As a teenager Floy began a lifetime passion for teaching children in Sunday school about Jesus. Bryant shared her passion and taught Sunday school to children age 4 for over 30 years. In addition, while attending Paramount Baptist in Amarillo and Antioch Baptist in Lubbock she oversaw the nursery and beginners’ programs.

After several years of marriage, Floy and Bryant asked the church to pray that they would conceive. They were blessed with 3 children Hillary, William and Joslyn. Over the years the Flores family lived in Lubbock, Slaton, Albuquerque, El Paso and Amarillo. In each city they found a church home in which to serve.

Beginning in the late 1960s, Floy began taking painting lessons from Paulene Nelson, a fellow church member and hair styling client. Floy discovered a talent for and love of oil painting.

In the 1970s Floy and her family felt a calling to Gospel Missions. Their church homes, Paramount Baptist and later Beacon Heights in Lubbock, sponsored both home and foreign missionaries and saw a need for small teams of church members to minister in other churches around the world. The Flores family participated in mission trips in the United States, Mexico, Korea, Japan, France, Italy, Sweden, Chile, Cuba and Spain. Funding for many of the mission trips was provided by profits from Floy’s paintings and cosmetology.

In the early 1980s Floy embarked in Fashion Manufacturing. Flo-Ree’s Original, Inc., her cottage industry, started with a $70 investment. It provided jobs to women in Slaton, the town she grew up in. Floy’s designs promoted apparel made of cotton, with an ease of fit that flattered most figures. Wanda Jackson, Gospel/ County and Western singing star featured Floy’s designs on her weekly TV show. After showing her creations at the Dallas Fashion Market, Flo-Ree’s gained market share in 49 stores located in 5 states. Flo-Ree’s eventually went international in Canada, Mexico and Spain.

In the late 1980s Floy joined Joslyn and Hillary in Mary Kay cosmetics. The three enjoyed the comradery, the cosmetics and the Mary Kay cars for over 30 years.

In the late 1990s Floy and Bryant semi-retired and continued painting, golf and worldwide travel. They were active in their church, Indiana Avenue Baptist, and held small worship and prayer services in their home. They cared for Floy’s mother until her death in 2015 at the age of 104.

Floy’s life was defined by her commitment to Jesus Christ. She came to know Jesus as her Savior as a teenager and was drawn to the Savior by the promise of a home in heaven. Floy often shared favorite Bible verses from John chapter 14 where Jesus says: “Let not your heart be troubled: Ye believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” The joy Floy found in Jesus was evident in all aspects of her life and to all she met.

Floy was a true artist; she painted our lives with joy.
