HENRY WELTMAN

FORT WORTH -- Henry James Weltman, a lifelong resident of Fort Worth, died peacefully Monday morning, Oct. 8, 2012, during his 85th year. Service: 2:30 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel at Beth-El Congregation with Rabbi Ralph Mecklenburger officiating. Following committal prayers, he will be laid to rest in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to the Scottish Rite Hospital's for Children or to a charity of one's choice, in his memory, is suggested. Born on Aug. 24, 1927, Henry was the son of Sidney and Hortense Blumenthal Weltman. He was a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin. Working as a chemist for Convair, which became General Dynamics, Henry had many accomplishments. During his career with the company, he established seven patents and was inducted into GD's "Hall of Fame." He also received a presentation from the Environmental Protection Agency in Washington, D.C., for developing cleaning solvents that protect the ozone layer and help prevent global warming. He was a longtime member of Beth-El Congregation and a life master bridge player. Survivors: In addition to his wife of 61 years, Bettye Joan Smith Weltman, Henry is survived by his children, Cheryl Weltman, Larry Weltman and his wife, Linda, and Cindy Weltman Smith and her husband, Harold; grandchildren, Brian Weltman, Tracy Jordan and her husband, Tom, Angela Weeks and her husband, Will, and Joshua Smith and his wife, Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Jolie, Zachary, Devin, Sarah and Andrew; and his faithful dog, Chester.
