Fort Worth, Texas – James Allen Smith was called to be with his Lord and Savior and beloved wife, Kay, Thursday afternoon, July 6, at the age of 86.

Born in Abilene, Jim was the son of Jesse Lee and Juanita Rivers Smith.  Jim, or Papa by his children and grandchildren, was raised on the historic Waggoner Ranch in Vernon.  He often recalled many fond memories and stories with his brother and sister on the ranch.

A “special thank you” goes to Overture Home Care and Carolyn, who was an “Angel on Earth” sent to Papa and his family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and sister, Joyce St. German.

In addition to his children, Lee Ann Bearden and her husband, Rusty, and Chance Smith and his wife, Deeya, Jim is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Bailey Ykema and her husband, Rick, Jesse Merrell and her husband, Jeffrey, Garrett Smith and Emily Smith; and only great-grandchild, Clay Merrell; siblings, Ray Smith and Pam, Tommy Smith and Delores and Jesse Smith; along with many extended family members and friends.
