With love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Janet Neuman Floyd who peacefully departed on July 28, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on September 5, 1937, in Gatesville, Texas. Janet was the daughter of Athlene Harriett & Louis Neuman. She lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and service to others. She devoted over 30 years to educating children in the Arlington Independent School District, where she inspired generations of students with her patience, compassion, and love of learning. Teaching was more than a career to her—it was a calling, and she cherished the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of so many young people.
She was married to Alva Don Floyd for 45 years, they met through mutual friends at church and together they shared many memories, joys, and life’s milestones.
Above all, she will be remembered for her loving heart, unwavering strength, and the genuine care she showed to family and friends. Her wisdom, grace, and quiet generosity left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know her.
She is survived by her loving family, who will forever cherish her memory and carry forward the values she instilled in them. She was survived by her brother Louis Neuman,daughters Nan Akin spouse Bob Akin, Paula Draughn spouse Andy Draughn and Karen Floyd. Grand children Allie Sooter spouse Brett Sooter, Brooks Akin spouse Gracie Akin and Hayden Draughn. Great Grandchild Scottie Sooter.
A celebration of her life will be held on September 5th at Nan Akin’s home in Fort Worth, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial gifts be made to a charity supporting education, Save the Children -Education | Save The Children.
Though she is no longer with us, her love, her lessons, and her legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew
