JOAN LESLIE BERGER ROSEN

August 12, 1942 — July 9, 2025

Fort Worth

Joan Berger Rosen was born to Jack Henry Berger and Marie Friedman Berger on August 12, 1942 in Oklahoma City. Her family soon moved to Fort Worth, where her grandmother lived. Joan attended Bluebonnet Elementary and McLean Middle School, and graduated from Paschal High School, where she acted as ROTC sponsor. After a semester at Sophie Newcomb College in New Orleans, she returned in 1960 to Fort Worth to marry Sam Rosen, an attorney who practiced with the firm that later evolved into Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff, and Miller.

Joan’s parents operated Fashion Furniture on Camp Bowie, and Joan spent her free time involved with furniture sales and interior design. Her daughter Leslie was born in 1963, followed by Sherri-lynn in 1966. Joan was proud to volunteer at Casa Manana when the girls were in middle school, hemming costumes while her daughters followed their interest in musical theater. She happily drove daughter Sherri-lynn to early morning ice dance practice in Dallas, getting her home in time for Sherri’s school day at Paschal. In the early 1980s, Joan and a partner opened Bridal Collections, a bridal gown store on Camp Bowie. Joan’s love for the Texas Rangers team grew from her evenings spent in front of the TV, doing alterations on wedding gowns. Her family is confident that she will continue rooting for the Rangers from the world beyond.

Joan’s greatest legacy, besides her daughters, Leslie Jo’el Rosen Walstrom and Sherri-lynn Wiedermann; and her Walstrom grandchildren, Nicholas, Lillian, and Helena, and the Wiedermann grandchildren, Ephraim Ayil, Moshe Mayer, Dorothy Hadassah Miriam, and Joseph Raife Andrew; and great-grandson, Samuel Isaac Ayil. She is also survived by her sister, Susan Berger Merilatt, cousins Mary Ann Block and Steve Ritzwoller, and six nieces and nephews.

A Service at the Grave will be held at 11:00 am Sunday, July 13, in the Beth-El Section of Greenwood Memorial Park. Friends are invited to attend a reception following the funeral at The Tradition at Clearfork at 12:15. There will also be a short Mincha service at The Tradition at Clearfork at 5:00 Sunday afternoon.

May her memory forever be a blessing.
