FORT WORTH -- John Paul “JP” Kimzey, a native Fort Worth resident, passed away peacefully at home in the loving arms of wife, Lane Anne, Friday morning, Nov. 17, 2017, after a five-year battle with cancer. Mr. Kimzey was 77. SERVICE: A celebration of John Paul’s life will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 28, in the sanctuary of University Christian Church, 2720 S University Drive, with the Rev. Cyndy W. MEMORIALS: Consideration of contributions to the University Christian Church’s Gentry Shelton Music Fund or the TCU Ranch Management Program, TCU Box 297420, Fort Worth, TX 76129, in John Paul’s memory, is suggested. Born Nov. 9, 1940 in Fort Worth, John Paul graduated from R. L. Paschal High School in 1958. He attended Texas Christian University and graduated with a degree in Radio and Television in 1964 and Ranch Management in 1987. On June 3, 1961, he married the love of his life, Lane Anne Alexander at University Christian Church. A devoted husband of 56 years and father of three sons, he did almost everything with his wife by his side. Anything outdoors was experienced from fishing, hunting, skiing, golf, raising cattle on his beloved ranch, and flying airplanes. He and Lane Anne treasured their morning devotionals, as well as sunrises with a cup of coffee, and sunsets with a glass of Chardonnay and their dog and faithful companion, Jack. JP began his career working for his father in retail TV sales. He co-founded ProAudio.com (formerly Crouse-Kimzey) a broadcast electronics company where he served as President and CEO. He built the cable TV system for the city of Greenville, Texas and owned two radio stations (KGVL, KSST). John Paul served on the boards of University Christian Church, Fort Worth Country Day School, Speedway Children’s Charities and was a member of many organizations including Sons of the Revolution, Fort Worth Air Power Council, and Fort Worth Rotary Club. The highlight of his week was the Thursday Morning Breakfast Club he faithfully attended for 43 years. John Paul connected with all his doctors, nurses, and caregivers in a way that made them never forget him. He was strong and determined to never give up even when in pain. An honest, gentle man with good virtues that cherished his family, friends, and will not be forgotten. He is preceded in death by his parents, Truett and Cecelia Crouse Kimzey of Fort Worth, and sister, Karolyn Beall of Dallas. SURVIVORS: In addition to his wife of 56 years, Lane Anne, John Paul is survived by their sons, Rob of Charleston, South Carolina, Paul and his wife, Crozier of Dallas, and Bill and his wife, Carolyn of Castle Rock, Colorado. "Pau Pau," as referred to by his six grandchildren, leaves numerous loving memories to Cameron, Cade, Caleb, Cortland, Grace, and Carolyn. John Paul will also be forever remembered by his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.
