FORT WORTH -- Betty Morlang Thompson passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2018. SERVICE: A graveside service was held in Greenwood Memorial Park Wednesday December 19, officiated by The Reverend Melanie Barbarito. MEMORIALS: For those wishing to honor Betty’s memory, the family suggests donations be made to All Saints Episcopal Church, 5001 Crestline Road, Fort Worth, TX 76107, or to a charity of your choice. Betty was born March 29, 1927 in Fort Worth, the only child of the late Harry John and Gladys Medlin Morlang. She grew up in Dallas graduating from the Hockaday School in 1943, Hockaday Junior College in 1945 and received her BA in Spanish from the University of Texas in 1947. She was married to the late George Thompson III of Fort Worth on January 31, 1948. Betty was a former member of the Junior League of Fort Worth and enjoyed her volunteer work at The Child Study Center. She was an avid bridge, poker and backgammon player. She also enjoyed reading, participating in the Durant Study group, dancing, traveling, cooking and eating dark chocolate. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends, in Fort Worth, Virginia and Nantucket, Massachusetts. She taught all of her grandchildren how to play backgammon and instilled in them good manners. A woman of great faith, she read the Bible and prayed daily for those she loved. She was a devoted member of All Saints Episcopal Church for over sixty years and served on the Altar Guild. She was also a member and served on the Vestry of St. Paul’s Church in Nantucket. The family would like to thank Josefa Wong and all those who cared for their dear mother in her home for the last several years. Surviving her are son, George Thompson and his wife, Melissa of Fort Worth; daughter, Margaret Ladd and her husband, Bob of Virginia; grandchildren, Margaret Thompson of California, Carter Ladd and his wife, Beth of New York and John Ladd of Virginia; and great-granddaughter, Millie Ladd of New York.
