Martha Ann Vukovich, née Wyatt, age 90, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at 2:01 p.m., surrounded by her daughters and son-in-law.

To know Martha was to know someone who truly knew how to enjoy life. She was fun, warm, welcoming, and just a little mischievous—the kind of person who could turn an ordinary day into an occasion. Costumes, silly sayings, popsicles, impromptu skits, crazy hats, and unexpected adventures were all part of life with Martha. She loved to laugh, and even more, she loved making other people laugh.

But underneath all that fun was something even more special: Martha had a remarkable way of making people feel loved, accepted, and included. Once you were part of her family—or part of the family she chose for herself—you were family for good. Her home and her heart were always open, and there was always room for one more.

Martha grew up in Post, Texas, with her brothers. Her early years were not always easy, but she carried forward a determination to make the most of life. She understood that each day was a gift, and she had a wonderful ability to make an ordinary day feel special.

She was a uniter and, so often, the center of the family gatherings she loved. Martha had a contagious enthusiasm for life, and people frequently left her company feeling a little happier than when they arrived. She had a gift for making people feel seen and welcomed, whether they had known her for a lifetime or had only recently entered her world.

Martha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Mathew Vukovich, whom she married in 1955. They shared 65 years of marriage before his passing in 2020. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Cynthia Ann Vukovich, who passed away at the age of 66; her mother and father; three brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by her daughters, Debbie J. Vukovich and Lisa L. Flowers and her husband, Keith; her five grandchildren, Jennifer Lyles, Tracie Gilbreath, Matthew Pennington, Justin Flowers, and Rachel Flowers; seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

Throughout her life, Martha held several different jobs, including working at Montgomery Ward and, for a time, as a travel agent. She ended her working years at The WARM Place in Fort Worth, an organization that became especially dear to her heart.

At The WARM Place, Martha found a beautiful way to share the compassion and acceptance that came so naturally to her. She loved her co-workers and treasured the opportunity to help children and families grieving the death of someone they loved. Helping others find comfort, connection, and hope was work that suited Martha’s generous heart.

Martha lived most of her life in the Fort Worth area, where her home became the setting for countless family memories. For those who loved her, it is easy to picture her there—wearing a crazy hat, watching a favorite movie, planning some wonderfully nutty scheme, or simply enjoying having the people she loved gathered around her.

Our family would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the caring staff at Clear Fork of Willow Park Assisted Living and Memory Care and Medical City Weatherford for the kindness, compassion, and care they provided to Martha.

Martha made it very clear that when her time came, she didn’t want everyone sitting around being sad. She wanted a party. She wanted her life celebrated. And that seems exactly right for a woman who spent so much of her life creating joy for everyone around her.

So we will gather. We will tell stories, laugh, cry, remember some of Martha’s wonderfully crazy antics, and celebrate the woman who brought so much fun, love, acceptance, and laughter into our lives.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Martha’s honor, with details to be shared with family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Martha’s memory to The WARM Place, an organization that held a very special place in her heart, at http://thewarmplace.org.

Martha was truly one of a kind. She taught us, mostly by example, that today is what we have, that family is bigger than blood, that there is always room for laughter, and that people should leave your presence feeling a little better about themselves and the world.

That was Martha’s gift. And what a gift she was to all of us. ❤️
