Rena Elizabeth Reynolds, 92, retired Engineering Technician from the Texas Department of Transportation and Highways, died on January 4 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Memorial Service: 10:00 a.m. on January 16 at University Christian Church, 2720 S. University Dr., Fort Worth.
Rena Reynolds was born on March 9, 1933 to Valta Raley Reynolds and H. Roy Reynolds in Belton, Texas. She lived in Killeen, Texas until the age of five when her parents moved to San Antonio. Rena grew up in San Antonio and came to Texas Christian University in 1950. After graduation she went to work for the Texas Highway Department. For many years she did the calculations for the major highway interchanges in the Fort Worth area. In 1973 she helped organize the automation section at the Fort Worth District Office and worked in the automation section until retirement in 1987.
Rena served on the Board of Directors of the Highway District Two Credit Union and was board chair for twelve years. She was an active member of University Christian Church, where she served as a Deacon, Elder and as Chair of the Trustees and was also a Stephen Minister. She was a member of the Brite Divinity School Board of Trustees and Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of the Granville and Erline Walker Ministerial Scholarship Foundation. She also served on the Salvation Army Board of Advisors.
Rena was a devoted fan of TCU. She was a member of the Thursday TCU Women Exes and served as Treasurer of the Friends of the TCU Library Board for several years.
We are grateful for the care Rena has received from the Trust Department at Frost Bank for many years, at James L. West for the last several years, and Community Healthcare for the last months. Her journey with Alzheimer’s Disease has been a long one.
Survivors: Cousin, Jayne Ann Meschter, Victorville California; Godson, Jason Browder; members of the Walker and Browder families who have been like family to her; and many friends.
