RICHARD HEDRICK COFFEY

September 17, 1943 — April 5, 2026

Fort Worth

Richard Hedrick “Dick” Coffey (82) of Fort Worth, passed away peacefully on April 5, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.

Dick was born on September 17,1943, in Weatherford, Texas, to Pauline and Billy Bob Coffey. He graduated from Weatherford High School in 1961, and soon after, the Coffey family moved to Fort Worth.

Dick met the love of his life, Glynda, while working at his family’s business, the well known Stripling’s Department Store. They were married on June 11, 1966, beginning a lifelong partnership built on love and devotion. Together, they raised two children, Courtney and Richard Jr.

Later in life, Dick made the decision to pursue higher education, earning his Bachelor of Science in Education from his beloved Texas Christian University in 1996, an accomplishment he was incredibly proud of. Following graduation, he went on to teach at Burleson High School, where he impacted the lives of many students. He was an incredibly proud TCU alumnus and a devoted fan of the Horned Frogs. Dick rarely went a day without wearing purple and sharing the signature “Go Frogs” with friends and even strangers. He loved attending football games and was a proud member of the Frog Club.

He was known for his joyful spirit. Dick had a funny sense of humor and was always ready with a joke or witty remark. He was gentle, kind, and deeply loved by all who knew him. A devoted Christian, he was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Worth. He loved to travel, laugh, and truly lived life to the fullest.

Dick’s greatest love was his family and his beloved TCU, but above all, his wife, Glynda. After her passing in June 2023, he missed her deeply and spoke of her often. Their love story was one that continued to shine brightly in his heart.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Glynda Coffey, and his parents, Pauline and Billy Bob Coffey.

He is survived by his son, Richard Hedrick Coffey Jr. of Fort Worth; his daughter and son in law, Courtney and Ronald Nespeca of Houston; and his beloved grandson, Cash Anthony Nespeca. He is also survived by his brother, Bob Coffey, along with numerous cousins and dear friends.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate ICU medical staff at Baylor Scott and White All Saints Medical Center for the care and support they provided during his final days.

Go Frogs, always.
