FORT WORTH -- Samuel Patrick Woodson III died peacefully Tuesday evening, Oct. 16, 2012, during his 70th year. Service: Following a private family service Saturday in Greenwood Memorial Park, he will be laid to rest next to his wife, JoAnn, who died in 2007. Visitation: Mr. Woodson will lie in state Friday at Robertson Mueller Harper, where family and friends will gather 5 to 7 p.m. in the Great Room. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, consideration of contributions to Texas Christian University, in his memory, is suggested. Born in Galveston on Dec. 27, 1941, Pat was the son of Marie Chandler and Samuel Patrick Woodson Jr. He attended Baylor School for Boys in Chattanooga, Tenn., and St. Stephen's in Austin. Pat graduated from Texas Christian University, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity. Following college, Pat worked in the family business, Coca-Cola Bottling Co., first in Sherman and subsequently in Fort Worth. He was an active member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, served as director of the Brown-Lupton Foundation and was a longtime trustee at TCU. His family wishes to express sincere appreciation to Dr. Greg Phillips and his staff for the care and attention given Pat for several years. They also want to thank Sheila Grant for her years of friendship and assistance; and to the board and associates of the Brown-Lupton Foundation for the continued support shown to Pat. Survivors: In addition to his sons, Douglas James Woodson, Samuel Patrick Woodson IV and his wife, Carrie, and Chad Woodson, Pat is survived by his grandchildren, Bailey Marie, Douglas James Jr. and Lawrence Elizabeth Woodson and their mother, Nancy, Olivia Chandler and Samuel Patrick Woodson V, and Benjamin Thomas Woodson and his mother, Wendy; brother, Berry Chandler Woodson and his wife, Dotty.
