In Loving Memory of Sara Adel Baker

It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Sara Adel Baker announces her passing on November 8, 2025, at the age of 87.

Sara Adel Applebaum was born on February 10, 1938, to Abe and Betty Applebaum and lived a long and beautiful life in Fort Worth, filled with family, friendship, and faith.

Sara graduated from Paschal High School, where she formed cherished friendships that have lasted decades — she still attended monthly lunches with her classmates. She went on to attend the University of Texas.

Raised around her family’s beloved business, Carshon’s Deli, Sara could always be found greeting customers with her infectious smile. After the family sold Carshon’s, she spent more than 20 years at The Key School, where her love for children and families continued to flourish.

Sara was known for her boundless warmth, her generosity of spirit, and her remarkable ability to make everyone feel cared for. She was always ready for an adventure. She wasn’t just a mother and grandmother — she was everyone’s mom — a comforting presence who always had time for a visit, a phone call, a kind word, or a bit of advice.

She loved connecting with people, staying close to old friends while making new ones, and ensuring that those she cared about always felt her love. Her life was grounded in her devotion to family, friendship, and Jewish faith, and she carried those values into everything she did.

Sara will be remembered for her laughter, her wisdom, and the countless ways she brightened the lives of others. Her door was always open, she was always dependable, and she had a way of showing up early — and staying late — for those she loved.

Sara is survived by her three loving children, Michael Baker and his wife, Krystal, Robert Baker, and Ella Baker Ross; and her grandchildren, Brock Baker, Erika Baker, Connor Baker, Jack Baker, Drew Baker, Bryce Baker, Jennie Ross, and Aidan Ross. She is also survived by her sister, Davita A. Avery; and brother, Arnie Applebaum and his wife, Lou; and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.

A Service at the Grave will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, November 10, at  Ahavath Sholom Cemetery, 411 N. University Drive,  A Memorial Service at 3:15 pm in the Barnett Sanctuary at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen Street, with a Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to Congregation Ahavath Sholom, Sara's memory, is suggested
