Wesley Cecil Harvey was born February 28, 1948, in Fairmont, West Virginia; and passed on June 30, 2026 in Fort Worth, Texas after many years of Vietnam War, combat related conditions. After graduating High School, Wes joined the Marine Corps and became a corporal and a tunnel rat while serving. Combat injuries awarded him 2 Purple Heart awards as well as others.
Wes met his wife Sharon on April 10, 1995 and fell in love at first sight. Married after 2 ½ weeks, their marriage lasted 31+ years.
Wes wore many hats during his life after Military Service, usually supervising in different industry settings; manufacturing and training new employees.
His favorite hat was one called “Paw”. The one he wore for his family life with Sharon and was given to him after all the kids started calling him that; which gave him great joy. Being a father figure; father-in-law, grandfather or great-grandfather; all knew him as Paw and loved him. Nothing the kids wanted or needed was ever too much. He would do it for them; and for Sharon!
The pastime Wes liked was to play golf and he was the anchorman of his corporate golf tournaments; Wes also enjoyed the company of his son-in-law Jack on weekend golf outings later on; getting up early to prepare for their golf outings was something he looked forward to.
Holidays were his favorite time to help decorate the house inside and out and always ready to lend a hand on the kitchen staff as a pro-dishwasher and errand runner.
Always especially proud of Wes’ Purple Heart awards, Wes’ daughter Sharla and husband Jack always bestowed tributes to Wes to honor him. From specially embroidered items with Purple Heart designs to a custom memory box displaying those awards with other military and patriotic mementos, Wes was never forgotten by his family as an honored Veteran.
Wes endured many years with conditions related to his combat service and chemical exposure with the same strength he always served his country and his family with; and Sharon was his 24/7 private aide.
We are so proud of such a wonderful, loving husband and Paw and brother and always a Marine.
Your family misses you so much and will always cherish our memories of you.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents Mary and Wesley Harvey, brother Charley Harvey, Linda Harvey Price and Rose Thornberg.
Left to cherish his memory - Sharon Harvey - wife of 31 years, daughter Sharla and her husband Jack Thompson, grandchildren Taylor Pate Spann and husband John David Spann, Tyler Thompson, great-grandchildren Sophie and Harrison, sister Debbie Harvey Stingo and husband Mike Stingo, several nieces and nephews, and several life-long friends.
We wish to express our gratitude to the healthcare providers from Home Sweet Home Healthcare Services for their compassionate and excellent care for Wes.
