In Loving Memory of William Allen Monroe
William (Bill) Allen Monroe, age 85, of Fort Worth, TX., passed away peacefully on November 2, 2026 surrounded by his loved ones.
Bill was born on August 29, 1941, in Houston, Texas. He was the son of William Fluitt Monroe and Hilda Lynne Warner. He grew up in Houston and graduated from Lamar High School.
Bill earned a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Texas at Austin and went on to earn a Master of Science in Geology from the University of California at Davis.
He began his career as a geologist in the oil and gas industry in Houston, Texas, dedicating 45 years to a profession he pursued with passion and commitment. He concluded his distinguished career with Jetta Operating Company in Fort Worth.
Bill remained actively involved with the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Trustee Foundation and formed lifelong friendships through his continued dedication to the field. His fascination with geology extended far beyond his professional career and into his everyday life. He found great joy in sharing his knowledge of rocks and geological formations with others.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed traveling to numerous states for golf trips with friends, his brother and his nephews. Among his proudest golf accomplishments were winning the Ridglea Country Club President’s Cup Championship and making several memorable holes-in-one.
His many other interests included spending time at the family lake house on Lake LBJ, boating, fishing, and birdwatching. Bill treasured his family’s 90-year tradition of annual trips to New Braunfels, where generations gathered to float the river and create lasting memories. An avid reader, he rarely let a day go by without a book in hand, and he was known for his skill at grilling the perfect steak.
Affectionately known as “Bubba” to family and friends, he was a devoted husband who loved sharing adventures with his wife, Debbie, from their many cruises to cherished family trips to Walt Disney World. He was a proud and dedicated grandfather who rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on his grandchildren at their baseball, soccer, football, and volleyball games.
Bill treasured the many friendships he made throughout Fort Worth and was known for his warm personality and genuine love of people. He was a longtime member and former president of the Petroleum Club, as well as a member of Ridglea Country Club and University Christian Church.
Known to all as truly “one of a kind,” Bubba lived by a simple philosophy: Don’t worry about tomorrow’s troubles today, see the beauty of the world, and make the most of each day. He embraced life with optimism and gratitude, leaving his family with a lasting reminder to cherish the present and find joy in every day.
Bill is survived by his beloved wife, Debbie; his daughters, Shea Williford (Jason), Courtney Jones (Brent), and Brynn Denard; his cherished grandchildren, Jackson and Carter Williford, Reid and Drew Jones, and Noah Denard; his brother, Glenn Monroe, and sister-in-law, Cathey; and his treasured nieces and nephews, Chance Monroe, Lindsay Becera, Kimberly Evans, and William Monroe.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Fluitt Monroe and his wife Hilda, and his sisters, Kara Lynn Heiss and Mary Ann Monroe Moore.
A celebration of Bill’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the sanctuary at University Christian Church, located at 2720 S. University Drive, Fort Worth, TX 76109. A reception will follow the service at the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, located at 777 Main Street, 40th Floor, Fort Worth, Texas 76102.
